Perhaps like you, I believe that our world and its inhabitants (not just humans) are extremely precious and should be protected, nurtured, and empowered with every thought, word, and action. I also believe that as we become evermore conscious of how our thoughts, words, and actions influence and alter each other and the ever-expanding world around us, we naturally become ever-more individually and collectively responsible for the well-being of our ever-expanding world. Yes, our "world" is quickly expanding beyond the Earth!

Perhaps like you, I frequently contemplate these three powerful questions:

1) How can we most effectively and efficiently create an ever-better world?

Note: An ever-better world is an ever healthier and happier world!

2) What is the greatest threat to our long term health and happiness?

3) What offers the greatest protection against this threat?

Over the years, I have generally settled on these three answers:

1) How can we most effectively and efficiently create an ever-better world?

We can most effectively and efficiently create an ever-better world by uniting and organizing our efforts in a conscious, intentional, and prioritized way. I have designed the Center and the Alliance specifically for this purpose.

2) What is the greatest threat to our long term health and happiness?

The greatest threat to our long term health and happiness is greed + technology. Ultimately, greed can cause a person to attempt to control everything and everyone around them - no matter the destruction! To make matters worse, existing and emerging technologies make it ever more possible. It is impossible to overstate or exaggerate this threat!

3) What offers the greatest protection against this threat?

Global personal enlightenment provides the best protection against this threat. Ultimately, personal enlightenment causes one to realize one's own true nature and true relationship to all else that exists. Such realization eliminates personal greed, activates critical thinking, and frees one from others' greed-driven attempts to control their mind. It also inspires one to actively help create a better world. Unfortunately, we are far away from global enlightenment.

This was one of my first significant realizations (when I was a teen in the 1980s) and it quickly became a significant motivation which inspired many related projects, gradually evolving into The Center for Global Enlightenment.

2020 UPDATE: Although global personal enlightenment undoubtedly offers the best protection against greed (along with numerous other invaluable benefits); given the current state of the world, it is simply taking too long. Unfortunately, more aggressive self-defense strategies are needed; or we may lose much of our ability (freedom) to create an ever-better world. To explore this idea, I wrote two provocative essays which quickly evolved into: Operation SOLITARY SOLIDARITY. I'd love to know if you think this could be a helpful project that should be refined and developed, or a harmful one that should be abolished.
